HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR HANDMADE ITEMS
These are the most gentle washing methods I have learned over time and use myself to care for any handmade item. A care card is included with every purchase.
HAND WASHING (RECOMMENDED)
Presoak
Add a teaspoon of mild detergent and cold water to a tub. Presoak for 15 minutes.
Hand Wash
Gently massage the garment with your hands to release any dirt from the fibers.
Rinse
Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Press to remove excess water. (Do not wring).
Roll
Spread the garment out evenly on a towel. Roll the garment up inside the towel and apply pressure to remove more water.
Air Dry
Reshape and lay flat to air dry, rotating periodically so each side gets air (upcycled jeans & jackets can hang). Set outdoors or add a fan to dry quicker.
Steam
Steam with distilled water, hovering above the garment without touching, to remove wrinkles and refresh between washes.
MACHINE WASHING
Laundry Bag
Use a close-fitting laundry wash bag to reduce movement or pulling and prevent snagging.
Wash Separately
Wash separately or with lightweight garments, like t-shirts, that don't have buttons or zippers.
Cold Water
Wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Presoak only when needed.
Delicate Setting
Wash on a Delicate or Gentle setting to prevent the garment from stretching or pulling during agitation cycles.
THE DO NOT'S
DO NOT machine-dry your garments. High heat damages the fibers more quickly, and the tumbling increases the chances of stretching, snagging, or pulling the yarn.
DO NOT use an iron directly on the yarn as the high heat may damage the fibers. If ironing is necessary, place a towel over the garment to protect it from the heat.
DO NOT hang proudcts that are 100% knit or crochet. Hangers can cause marks and uneven stretching. (Upcycled jeans and jackets can use hangers.)
